Nigerian boxer Taiwo “Esepo” Agbaje has etched his name into continental boxing history after outlasting fellow unbeaten fighter Tosin “Sojar Boy” Osaigbovo over 10 intense rounds to win the WBA Africa Lightweight title.
The highly anticipated showdown, staged in Lagos, lived up to expectations as both fighters entered the ring with perfect records and strong knockout reputations. From the opening bell, the contest was fiercely competitive, with Agbaje relying on his relentless pressure and high-volume punching while Osaigbovo tried to counter with sharp technique and movement.
As the fight progressed, Agbaje began to assert control, forcing exchanges and landing heavier shots that gradually shifted momentum in his favour. Despite Sojar Boy’s resilience and attempts to turn the tide, he struggled to consistently keep the champion-elect at bay in the closing rounds.
After a demanding 10-round contest, the judges awarded Agbaje a deserved victory, handing him the WBA Africa belt and preserving his unbeaten record.
The win further boosts Agbaje’s growing reputation in African boxing, while Osaigbovo suffers his first professional setback after a brave but ultimately unsuccessful challenge.
