Today, July 16, 2025, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D., mni, OFR, was in Abia State as part of his operational tour of the South East. The visit is to evaluate the performance of personnel on the ground. The CG addressed officers and men of the Command at the parade ground of the Abia State headquarters.
While addressing the personnel, Prof. Audi raised the alarm over the growing threats of asymmetric warfare and rising criminal activities across the country from illegal oil bunkering to vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI). He warned that such acts of economic sabotage, if left unchecked, could have a grave impact on Nigeria’s economy, including its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Reiterating the NSCDC’s mandate to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure, the CG assured that the Corps is doubling down on its efforts to confront these threats head-on. He emphasized that his ongoing tour across the region is part of a comprehensive strategy to gauge field performance, strengthen operational effectiveness, and enhance security outcomes in Abia and beyond.
On the welfare front, Prof. Audi assured personnel of the Corps’ his commitment to capacity development, timely payment of entitlements, and improved insurance cover, all of which he said are critical to achieving excellence in service delivery.
The CG seized the moment to commission an office complex built by the State Commandant, NSCDC Abia State Command, CC Akinsola Aderemi at the State Command headquarters. The CG commended the Commandant and urged him to redouble his efforts.
As part of the visit, the CG paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. He expressed appreciation for the support the Corps has received from the state government and appealed for continued collaboration. He harped on the Corps’ alignment with the national security agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, noting that the South East tour is a proof to NSCDC’s resolve to secure lives, properties, and the nation’s future.

Governor Otti, in turn, commended the NSCDC for its professionalism and pledged his administration’s sustained support for the Corps and other security agencies operating within the state.
