Brazilian police have launched a full-scale investigation following the sudden death of a 20-year-old woman aboard a long-distance bus, during which 26 iPhones were discovered glued to her body.

The incident occurred during a trip from Foz do Iguaçu, near Brazil’s border with Paraguay and Argentina, to São Paulo. The woman began experiencing health issues when the bus made a scheduled stop at a roadside restaurant in Guarapuava, located in the central region of Paraná State.

According to local media, the young woman reportedly complained of breathing difficulties. Emergency responders from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) arrived at the scene and began treating her. Although she was conscious, paramedics said she was in visible distress and soon began to exhibit symptoms of respiratory failure, followed by what appeared to be a seizure.

Despite 45 minutes of resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the emergency response, medics discovered several suspicious packages taped directly to her skin. Further inspection by police revealed a total of 26 iPhones hidden under her clothing. The Military Police were immediately alerted, and both civil and forensic investigators were called to the scene.

While a sniffer dog found no trace of narcotics in her belongings, several bottles of alcohol were recovered and seized from her luggage. The woman was reportedly traveling alone, and her identity has not yet been made public.

The seized smartphones have been handed over to Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are awaiting forensic test results to determine the exact cause of death.

The motive behind the suspected smuggling operation remains unknown, and police have not confirmed whether the phones contributed to her sudden demise. The Paraná Civil Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing.
