The Anglican Diocese of Jebba has lauded President Bola Tinubu for steps taken to stabilise Nigeria’s economy but voiced concern over the escalating hardship faced by everyday Nigerians.

This was part of the communique released at the conclusion of the third session of the sixth Synod of the Diocese, held from Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Jebba. The session was presided over by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd. Oluwaseun Aderogba.

While acknowledging the economic reforms initiated by the current administration, the Synod urged the Federal Government to prioritise the fight against poverty and insecurity above political interests. “The cost of living crisis is real and biting,” Bishop Aderogba stated.

On state matters, the Synod commended Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for ongoing development initiatives but called for more inclusive governance that caters to rural and neglected communities. Specific attention was drawn to the Elebu–Lanwa axis, where electricity supply remains poor, and the deteriorated Shaare–Patigi Road, which was identified for urgent repair.

The Diocese further appealed to the Kwara State Government to intensify efforts in tackling the rising insecurity affecting both the northern and southern regions of the state.

The Synod, themed “Liberalism and Liberty: Little Things That Matter,” also examined doctrinal and theological issues within the church, while emphasising the crucial role of responsive leadership in alleviating the suffering of the Nigerian populace.
