The Benue State Government has celebrated the remarkable achievements of Super Falcons forward, Francisca Mlumun Ordega (OON), following her impressive performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). At a special state reception held in Makurdi on Wednesday night, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia announced a series of prestigious rewards for Ordega, including a N50 million cash gift, the naming of a street in her honour, and the allocation of a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in Makurdi.
The event, organized to recognize Ordega’s contributions to Nigeria’s victorious WAFCON 2024 campaign, was filled with fanfare and admiration. The governor expressed deep pride in Ordega’s accomplishments and highlighted the impact of her dedication and sporting excellence on the image of Benue State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Alia described Ordega as a beacon of hope and an inspiration to young athletes, especially girls who aspire to greatness through sports. He commended her discipline, perseverance, and consistent performance on the international stage, stressing that her recognition was well-earned and symbolic of the state’s commitment to celebrating excellence.
“This gesture is our way of appreciating a true ambassador of Benue,” the governor said. “Francisca Ordega has brought immense pride to us all, and we hope her story motivates many more to pursue their dreams relentlessly.”
