The Springbok Women’s rugby team received an official send-off in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening ahead of their departure for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

The squad jets off to the United Kingdom on Thursday, with their opening Pool D clash against Brazil scheduled for 10 days’ time.

Fresh from an impressive victory over the New Zealand Black Ferns Fifteen, the team carries a renewed sense of confidence into the tournament.

Vice-captain Babalwa Latsha emphasised the importance of staying grounded. “We are not looking too far ahead. It’s important that we don’t get lost in the noise. The key is to focus on the first game, do well there, and then look at the rest,” she said.

Lock Danelle Lochner shared the excitement within the camp, adding: “Our win over the Black Ferns Fifteen gave us massive confidence. We’re ready to see what the pool games have in store.”

The Springbok Women will compete in Pool D alongside Brazil and other formidable opponents, as they aim to make their mark on the global stage.
