Gauteng police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after a taxi was set alight by unknown suspects in Pimville, Soweto.

The incident occurred near Maponya Mall, but no injuries were reported.

It comes less than 24 hours after an arson attack in the area claimed the life of an e-hailing driver and left two others injured. In that attack, two e-hailing vehicles were also torched.

Large crowds of residents have gathered near the mall, while police maintain a strong presence to monitor the situation.
