Rivers Administrator Announces New Boards’ Appointments

The Rivers State Government has unveiled new appointments to key boards and commissions, aimed at strengthening governance and driving development across education, health, revenue, and other sectors.

The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, on behalf of His Excellency, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, Administrator of Rivers State.

Rivers State University Governing Council
Okey Wali (SAN) has been appointed Chairman, with members including Theophilus Owhor, Uche Messiah Olowo, Soibiton Ngoji Kio Isokariari, Prof. Joseph Atubokiki Ajienka, Dr. Tamunoibikari G.S. Epelle, and Dr. Ndidi Chikanele Utchay. The council will oversee the management and administration of the university.

Rivers State Universal Basic Education Commission
Barr. Samuel Ogeh will chair the commission responsible for coordinating basic education. Other members are Monday Ledee Yimonah, Ibiene Cotton Amachree, Margaret Ngozi Ikegwuru, and Emi Clifford Ikalaso.

Rivers State Senior Secondary Education Board
Tony Egwurugwu has been named Chairman, joined by Dr. Austin ThankGod Jonah, Princess Clara Denirari Woke, and Nwisabari Bani Samuel to supervise senior secondary education.

Other Appointments

  • Rivers State Internal Revenue Service: Sir Israel Egbunefu (Chairman), Prof. Tamunonimim Anipiworima Ngerebo, Osepiribo Ben-Willie, and Okas Wike.
  • Rivers State Waste Management Board: Dr. Samuel O. Nwanosike (Chairman), Wokoma Amakiri Ibimina (Managing Director), Dr. Augusta Ayotamuno, and Engr. Gershon Owajikagop Ogbuluijah.
  • Appointments were also made to the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme, Rivers State Microfinance Agency, and Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Board.

According to the state government, these appointments are designed to enhance institutional performance and accelerate socio-economic growth in Rivers State.
