The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the South-East remains a key part of President Bola Tinubu’s developmental vision and agenda. It emphasized that under Tinubu’s strategic and inclusive leadership, the region has not been—and will not be—marginalized.

This assurance was given by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, during a citizens’ engagement forum held on Thursday in Enugu. The event was part of a three-day outreach tour across Enugu and Ebonyi States, aimed at engaging directly with residents and showcasing ongoing federal projects in the region.

Speaking at the forum, Idris declared, “Nigeria will never return to the era where the South-East or any region is treated unfairly. With President Tinubu, the country is moving steadily toward prosperity.” He noted that new development commissions have been established for previously underserved areas, reflecting the administration’s commitment to balanced development and inclusive governance through fair appointments and project distribution.

The minister also highlighted various empowerment and humanitarian programs introduced to ease the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies and other tough but necessary reforms. According to him, the impact of these policies will become more evident by the end of Tinubu’s first term. The event was attended by key stakeholders from Enugu State.
