Wikki Tourists technical adviser, Abdullahi Maikaba, has described his team’s hard-fought win over Abia Warriors as a true test of character. The Bauchi Elephants secured a narrow 1-0 victory at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Sunday.
The win extended Wikki Tourists’ unbeaten run to three games this season, a performance that has now lifted them to second place on the league table with seven points.
Speaking after the match, Maikaba acknowledged the quality of the opposition, noting that Abia Warriors are an experienced side with continental pedigree. He stressed that the game was never going to be easy.
“It was a big test for us. Abia Warriors are a continental team with structure and experience. I knew it would be tough, but my boys maintained discipline and showed great character. They truly deserved this win,” Maikaba stated.
The victory further solidifies Wikki Tourists’ strong start to the season, signaling their intent to compete at the top end of the table.
