The Abia State Civil Service Commission has refuted allegations of slot sales in the ongoing healthcare workers’ recruitment exercise, assuring citizens of transparency, fairness, and meritocracy in the process.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Umuahia, the Commission described the claims as baseless and unfounded. It emphasized that the recruitment process is anchored on global HR standards, integrating technology to eliminate bias and ensure only the most qualified candidates are selected.

According to the release, the recruitment involves a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and interviews designed to guarantee merit-based selection. The Commission noted that results, along with candidates’ documentation status, will be publicly published on its official portal to prevent manipulation or alteration.

Chairman of the Commission, Pst. Eno Jerry Eze (PhD), stated that the process has already earned commendations from candidates and stakeholders, setting “a new precedent in the public sector for its integrity.”

He further encouraged individuals with verifiable information on malpractice to report through an official link, assuring that any confirmed breaches will be thoroughly investigated and met with decisive action.

“The Abia State Civil Service Commission remains dedicated to ensuring a fair recruitment process that upholds the highest standards of integrity to build a competent and professional healthcare workforce for the state,” the statement read.
