Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will be sentenced today in New York following his conviction on two prostitution-related charges that could see him spend more than a decade behind bars.
Combs, 55, was acquitted in July of more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering but still faces up to 20 years in prison on the remaining counts. Prosecutors are pressing for at least 11 years, calling him “unrepentant,” while his lawyers are seeking 14 months effectively time served.
The sentencing follows harrowing testimony from victims, including singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who detailed years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. She urged the court to impose a punishment reflecting the courage of survivors.
Combs, who has been in custody for over a year, apologized in a letter, saying prison had left him “humbled and broken.” Judge Arun Subramanian will deliver the ruling today.
