Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Labour Party amid growing speculations about his possible defection to another political platform. The governor, while addressing recent political rumors, made it clear that he has no intention of abandoning the party that brought him to power through the will of the people.

Governor Otti, in a firm statement, said, “I need superior arguments on why I should defect from the Labour Party to any other party. Until I receive that, you may wait for a very long time. Our cases are different.” His comment underscores his conviction and loyalty to the principles of the Labour Party, which he believes align with his vision for governance and people-centered leadership.

The governor’s declaration comes amid what political observers describe as increased lobbying by major political parties seeking to expand their influence ahead of the 2027 general elections. Otti, however, maintains that his focus remains on delivering good governance, rebuilding Abia State’s infrastructure, and improving the welfare of its citizens, rather than engaging in partisan politics.

Since assuming office, Governor Otti has consistently emphasized accountability, transparency, and service delivery as the foundation of his administration. His latest statement is seen as a reaffirmation of his political integrity and a message to detractors that his allegiance lies firmly with the people of Abia and the Labour Party that gave him the mandate to serve.
