The Abia State Police Command has successfully reunited three rescued children with their families after uncovering a disturbing case of child trafficking involving their own mother. Two suspects, identified as Chinasa Ukachukwu and Adaoma Sunday, both aged 30, have been arrested in connection with the crime.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the arrests followed a detailed investigation prompted by a missing persons report. The case revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to traffic the victims, leading to the eventual rescue of the three children.

Police reports indicate that the incident began when Mrs. Chinasa Ukachukwu, a widow, left her home on October 4, 2024, with her four children, claiming she was attending a child dedication in Aba. Shockingly, she returned two days later with only one child and failed to provide any explanation for the disappearance of the others.

Authorities confirmed that through coordinated efforts, the missing children were located and safely reunited with their families. Meanwhile, both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with the Abia Police Command reiterating its commitment to eradicating child trafficking and protecting the rights of children across the state.
