The Lagos State Government has released a traffic diversion plan ahead of the 2025 Capital City Race, which is set to hold on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.

In a statement posted on X by the Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola, the government said the 10km race—organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in collaboration with the Capital City Race Organisers—will kick off at the Ikeja Shopping Mall.

Participants will run through Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, Adeniyi Jones, and Oba Akran before crossing the finish line at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church on Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja.

According to the statement, several roads, junctions, and intersections along the race route will experience partial closures, which will be opened intermittently as the event progresses to reduce traffic disruptions.

Security and traffic management personnel from the Nigerian Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be stationed across the route to ensure smooth flow and safety for both motorists and participants.

The government appealed to motorists to be patient and plan their journeys in advance, noting that the temporary closures form part of its traffic control measures for the event.
