In a striking and deeply resonant address, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, popularly known as Ikuku Oma Abia, delivered a powerful charge to members of the Isiopara Confraternity during their recent convention, urging them to cultivate peace by honouring the irreplaceable institution of the Adanne. His message, steeped in cultural wisdom, social consciousness, and moral gravitas, echoed through the gathering with the weight of ancestral authority.
Speaking with unmistakable clarity and conviction, Ikuku reminded the confraternity that the Adanne carries a stabilising force within every lineage. According to him, any family seeking lasting peace must learn to court her goodwill. He declared passionately that no man should underestimate the influence, intuition, or intercessory strength of the Adanne in the affairs of a household.
Ikuku emphasised that members should deliberately nurture their relationship with their Adanne, describing her as a natural custodian of harmony. In his words, “Dear members of the Isiopara Confraternity, for a lasting peace in your various families, be intentional in cultivating the support of your Adanne. She will assist you in stabilizing peace in the family.”
He advised them to pamper her, visit her before any family deliberation, and accord her the honour of a forerunner. His caution was vivid and unmistakable. “There is no atom of fear in Nde Ada. Those people, hmmmmmm!” he said, drawing knowing laughter from the audience. The remark underscored his assertion that the Nde Ada possess an unmatched firmness capable of influencing the trajectory of family decisions.
With the poise of a statesman and the insight of a cultural custodian, Ikuku delivered the central warning that has since reverberated well beyond the convention. “As a rule, always get her on your side. Please, never toy with your Adanne. If she fights you, it is finished.”
