The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has inaugurated more than 400 vigilante operatives known as Forest Guards to reinforce security in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, with a focus on the Owerri–Aba expressway and the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport.
During the commissioning ceremony, Danjuma explained that the deployment forms part of a broader security strategy designed to guarantee the safety of commuters, travelers, and airport users throughout the festive season and beyond.
He reiterated the commitment of security agencies in the state to tackling criminal activities and safeguarding key transportation routes, noting that the Owerri–Aba road and the airport axis serve as major entry points for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Describing Ngor Okpala as a vital commercial center in the state, the commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability to support continued economic development. He also called on community members to collaborate with law enforcement by sharing useful information and supporting ongoing security efforts.
The newly deployed Forest Guards are expected to boost patrol operations, increase surveillance coverage, deter criminal activities, and work alongside existing security units to ensure lasting safety across the area.
