Rt. Hon. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe is a prominent Nigerian leader and legislator renowned for his dedication to public service, integrity, and the welfare of his constituents. Born on May 1, 1972, into the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ginger Amanaha, he overcame early personal challenges to rise as one of Abia State’s most respected political figures.
His career in public service began in 1998 at age 26 when he was elected Councillor for Isiala Ngwa North LGA. His exemplary service earned him leadership roles, including Chairman of the Abia State Councillors’ Forum and Leader of the Legislative Council. He later served as Transition Committee Chairman in 2010 and 2014, overseeing transformative initiatives such as electrification, road improvements, youth programs, and enhanced workers’ welfare.
In 2016, Onwusibe was elected Executive Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North, and in 2019, he became a member of the Abia State House of Assembly. His tenure was marked by significant legislation and constituency projects, including the construction of schools, mini-stadiums, solar lighting, road rehabilitation, transformer installations, educational support programs, and youth empowerment initiatives.
A committed grassroots leader and humanitarian, he has championed community development, supported religious institutions, and empowered young people through programs like the Otawike Youth Initiative. His contributions have earned him multiple chieftaincy titles and the esteemed Knight of the Primatial Order of the First African Church Mission.
In 2023, Onwusibe was elected to the House of Representatives for the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, where he currently chairs the House Committee on Financial Crimes. In the 10th National Assembly, he has sponsored impactful motions and bills addressing national security, educational funding, disaster management, and accountability in security operations. His extensive development projects across education, health, ICT, agriculture, transportation, sports, and entrepreneurship have cemented his reputation as a dedicated servant leader. Beyond politics, he remains a devoted family man and traditional Prime Minister of Amapu Ntigha Autonomous Community, continuing to inspire progress and hope throughout his community.
