JAMB Sounds Alarm Over AI‑Driven Examination Scam

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a warning after uncovering a sophisticated cheating scheme involving artificial intelligence to manipulate the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Fraudsters reportedly used AI to impersonate board officials and gain unauthorized access to exam systems.

In response, the board has begun taking action against those involved, including internal staff members suspected of collusion. Some employees face dismissal as investigations continue into other accomplices.

The registrar stressed that the integrity of the UTME is crucial for fair university admissions. Candidates found using illegal assistance or participating in fraudulent schemes could face serious penalties, including cancellation of their registrations.

JAMB also urged parents and students to remain vigilant and avoid services that promise shortcuts. The board is working with security agencies to strengthen oversight and protect honest candidates, emphasizing that cheating undermines education and future opportunities.
