Abia 2027 APC Governoship Aspirant Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu has joined Nigerians in commemorating the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, paying tribute to the gallant men and women who laid down their lives in defence of the nation’s unity and freedom.

In a statement released on Thursday, the MUK described the fallen heroes as the true symbols of courage, selflessness and patriotism, noting that their sacrifices remain the foundation upon which Nigeria stands today.

Kalu said the remembrance day is a solemn reminder that the peace and liberties enjoyed by Nigerians were not handed down freely but earned through the blood and bravery of soldiers who chose to serve even at the cost of their lives.

He urged leaders at all levels to move beyond ceremonial tributes by making concrete commitments to the welfare of serving officers, veterans and the families of fallen soldiers, stressing that gratitude must be shown through action, not words alone.

The businessman and politician also called on Nigerians to remain united, peaceful and patriotic, adding that national cohesion remains the greatest honour that can be paid to those who died for the country.

Kalu further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts toward strengthening the nation’s security architecture and improving the operational capacity of the armed forces, saying sustained support for the military is critical to national stability.

He concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of departed soldiers and asking for divine protection for those currently on the frontlines, noting that their sacrifices must never be forgotten.
