The Association of Abia Radio and Television Executives (ARTEX) has engaged the General Manager of the Umuahia Capital Development Authority UCDA Mr Kingsley Agomoh in an interactive media session where he shed light on the massive infrastructural transformation taking place across the Abia capital. The engagement provided insight into the scope vision and long term planning behind the urban renewal projects being executed under the administration of Governor Dr Alex Otti.

Speaking during the session Agomoh described the level of development currently being witnessed in Umuahia the state capital as unprecedented. He stated that Governor Otti was fully prepared for the job even before his emergence as governor noting that the administration came with a clear blueprint for urban renewal and modern city planning. According to him many areas once considered impossible to develop have now become active construction sites with impressive road networks and expansion projects ongoing.

Using the Bank Road axis in Umuahia as an example Agomoh noted that residents never imagined the area could be expanded to accommodate such wide and modern road infrastructure. He explained that similar projects are ongoing in different parts of the town with each designed to improve traffic flow enhance aesthetics and boost economic activities. He added that the transformation is not limited to roads alone but includes the creation of modern bus stops across the city which he said are far beyond the ordinary shelters seen in many towns.

The UCDA boss further revealed that the governor has procured electric vehicles as part of efforts to promote clean energy transportation and reduce environmental pollution. He also highlighted the newly constructed bus terminal describing it as one of the best in the country. According to him the terminal can accommodate a large number of cars and buses at the same time a development he said reflects the government’s forward thinking considering the high cost of land and the need for efficient space management.

Agomoh disclosed that the government is also opening up new road corridors including the Post Office Railway Road which will link to Okpara Square to ease movement and decongest major routes. He added that plans are underway to expand the city through the Ubakala and Isiala Ngwa axis to allow Umuahia grow towards Aba. He said this vision of controlled expansion is aimed at turning Abia into a modern interconnected urban hub.

He commended Governor Alex Otti for his passion dedication and attention to detail describing him as a leader genuinely committed to rebuilding Abia. According to Agomoh the projects being executed are not cosmetic but strategic investments that will shape the future of the state for decades. He expressed confidence that Abians will continue to enjoy the dividends of good governance as the administration remains focused on sustainable development.
