Nigerian international midfielder Joe Aribo has completed a loan move to Leicester City from fellow English Championship side Southampton.

The Foxes confirmed the signing on Monday through a statement on their official website, announcing that the 29-year-old will remain at the King Power Stadium until the end of the 2025/26 season, subject to league approval.

“We are pleased to confirm the loan signing of versatile midfielder Joe Aribo from Southampton until the end of the 2025/26 season,” Leicester said.

Aribo arrives with significant experience, having made 111 appearances for Southampton over four seasons across the Premier League and Championship. He has also earned 34 caps for Nigeria and has recorded more than 400 appearances in his professional career.

Speaking after his unveiling, Aribo expressed excitement about the move and confidence in Leicester’s ambitions.

“It’s amazing to have got it done and I just can’t wait to get going,” he said. “I’ve always known the squad is good, and I’m certain about where we can get to and what we can do together.”

Born in Camberwell, England, Aribo began his career at Staines Town before moving to Charlton Athletic in 2015. His performances at Charlton earned him a transfer to Rangers in Scotland, where he made 149 appearances and scored 26 goals.

During his time at Rangers, he helped the club win the Scottish Premiership title in 2020/21, lifted the Scottish Cup in 2021/22, and featured prominently in European competitions, including scoring in the UEFA Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Aribo made his debut for Nigeria in 2019 and played a key role in the Super Eagles’ run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished as runners-up to Ivory Coast.

He is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately as Leicester prepare for their upcoming Championship clash away to Birmingham City on Saturday, February 7.
