Nigeria’s cricket authorities have moved to appoint a new technical leader for the country’s senior men’s squad as part of a wider restructuring effort aimed at boosting performance and long-term competitiveness.
The decision follows the conclusion of the previous coach’s contract, prompting administrators to begin a nationwide and international search for a qualified replacement. The new hire will oversee tactical planning, player conditioning, and elite performance programmes for the national side.
Officials say the incoming coach is expected to introduce updated training models, strengthen talent development pathways, and improve match consistency at major tournaments. Emphasis is also being placed on experience in high-level cricket systems and the ability to manage transitional team phases.
The federation noted that the coaching change is designed to build on recent gains while positioning the team for stronger results in upcoming regional and global competitions. Applications from experienced cricket professionals are currently being reviewed.
