A group of former councillors in Abia State has publicly backed Governor Alex Otti’s bid for a second term ahead of the 2027 general election, following the settlement of their outstanding entitlements by his administration.
The former council officials, who had been owed arrears for years, expressed gratitude to Otti for addressing the payments, calling it a demonstration of responsive leadership that positively impacted many families, including some beneficiaries who passed away before receiving what was due.
At a gathering in Igbere, the group also agreed on a consensus choice for the Bende Federal Constituency seat in 2027, endorsing Chima Anyaso of the Labour Party, citing his experience, credibility, and commitment to fair representation.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of rotation between the northern and southern parts of the constituency, and said they plan to mobilise grassroots support to help ensure both Otti’s re‑election and their chosen candidate’s success in the coming polls.
