Fernandes Makes Premier League History After Man United’s 1–0 Win Over Chelsea

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes etched his name into the Premier League record books on Saturday after registering an assist in his side’s 1–0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The decisive moment came in the first half when Fernandes set up Matheus Cunha for the only goal of the match, securing all three points for the Red Devils in a tightly contested encounter.

According to OptaJoe, the assist placed Fernandes in an elite category, making him only the fourth player in Premier League history to record 10 away assists in a single season. He joins Muzzy Izzet (2003–04), Cesc Fàbregas (2014–15), and Mohamed Salah (2024–25) in achieving the feat.

Since joining Manchester United from Sporting CP in 2020, the Portuguese midfielder has remained a key figure at Old Trafford, consistently delivering goals and assists from midfield. Now 31, Fernandes continues to play a central role in the team’s attacking setup.

The midfielder will be hoping to maintain his strong form as Manchester United prepare for their next Premier League fixture against Brentford on Monday.
