Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, are set for a key showdown against Guinea in the next phase of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
The fixture comes after Guinea secured progression with a convincing aggregate win over Niger, setting up a clash with the Nigerian side in the second round of the African qualifiers.
The Flamingos, who entered the stage automatically due to their ranking, will begin their qualification journey against a Guinea team that has shown strong attacking form in earlier rounds.
The first leg of the encounter is expected to be played later in May, with the return leg scheduled shortly after, as both teams compete for a place in the next qualifying stage.
Nigeria will be aiming to extend their strong history in youth women’s football and take a step closer to securing another appearance at the global tournament, while Guinea hopes to continue their impressive run by upsetting one of the continent’s most consistent sides.
