In a decisive effort to uphold professional standards and safeguard public safety, the Abia State Police Command has pledged full cooperation with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in a state-wide crackdown on unqualified engineering practitioners.

This collaboration was solidified during a strategic meeting at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia, where the Chairman of the Abia State Technical Committee of COREN, Engr. Victor Ihediwa, FNSE, led his team on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa.

Engr. Ihediwa, during the meeting, decried the dangers of engineering quackery, warning that unlicensed individuals masquerading as professionals pose serious risks to public safety and infrastructure integrity. He emphasized the importance of a strong enforcement alliance to root out such malpractice effectively.

In response, CP Isa assured the COREN delegation of the Police Command’s unwavering support in identifying, arresting, and prosecuting unqualified individuals involved in engineering-related offenses. He reaffirmed the Police’s commitment to ensuring that only certified professionals are entrusted with critical infrastructural projects across the state.

The collaboration between COREN and the Abia Police Command signals a renewed drive to eliminate substandard engineering practices, reinforcing efforts to protect lives and ensure quality in the state’s developmental agenda.
