Yobe SEMA Distributes Relief Kits to 103 Flood Victims in Potiskum

The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) has intensified its efforts to assist victims of the recent flood disaster in Potiskum Local Government Area. As part of its ongoing relief operations, the agency has distributed hygiene and shelter kits to 103 displaced individuals.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Executive Secretary of YOSEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, revealed that the agency has registered and verified 1,049 affected households, encompassing a total of 6,627 people, for flood relief support in the area.

Dr. Goje noted that the current intervention builds on earlier state-led efforts, which included the distribution of non-food items and cash-for-rent assistance to affected families. He praised Action Contre la Faim (ACF) for their swift response and acknowledged the contributions of other humanitarian partners. He also encouraged recipients to use the items effectively to improve their living conditions and regain a sense of dignity.

Community leaders have expressed heartfelt appreciation to the government for its timely intervention. In a related development, a woman was found near the Potiskum River, received medical attention, and has since been reunited with her family. The collaboration between government agencies and humanitarian organizations highlights a unified response aimed at supporting affected communities and enhancing resilience among displaced families.
