Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has reiterated his appeal to the Federal Government for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), describing it as the right course of action.

Governor Mbah made this call on Monday during a Q&A session following his presentation titled “Leadership and Transformation” at the Showcase Session of the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Enugu.

Responding to a participant who encouraged him to continue pushing for Kanu’s freedom, Mbah revealed that his first official meeting with President Bola Tinubu after taking office focused on Kanu’s detention. “My first visit to the President was about Nnamdi Kanu. I believe that the right thing to do is to release him. Hopefully, that will be done soon,” he stated.

He also noted that the previously observed Monday sit-at-home in Enugu State, linked to Kanu’s incarceration, has ended—crediting his administration’s efforts in restoring normalcy and public confidence.
