The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in partnership with the Alternative Bank, is set to introduce a digital platform to enhance the Hajj Savings Scheme for intending pilgrims.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by its Information Officer, Malam Kabir Muhammad, the commission said the new platform will enable prospective pilgrims to open and manage their Hajj savings accounts seamlessly from smartphones, tablets, and computers. The initiative is designed to simplify access to the scheme and extend its coverage nationwide.
During a strategic session in Abuja, officials of the Hajj Savings Scheme met with a delegation from the Alternative Bank to discuss the design and roll-out of the platform. The meeting was led by the scheme’s head, Mr. Abdulmumin Aliyu, and Information Technology specialist, Ms. Rabiat Akinwale, who represented the bank, alongside senior staff from both institutions. Aliyu described the project as a milestone in modernising the Hajj planning process, granting pilgrims real-time access to their savings while reducing paperwork and delays.
Akinwale, on her part, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to building a secure and user-friendly platform. She stressed that the system would allow pilgrims to open and monitor their accounts anytime and anywhere while ensuring strong security and transparency measures.
