A Nigerian student, Kenechukwu Oluwanifemi Uba of Caleb British International School, Magodo, Lagos, has been named the “Top in the World” candidate in the November 2024 Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language (Speaking Endorsement).
Uba received the prestigious Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award from Cambridge University Press & Assessment in recognition of her exceptional performance. The certificate, signed by the Group Managing Director of International Education at Cambridge, Rod Smith, was officially presented at a ceremony organised by the British Council and Cambridge University Press & Assessment at the Civic Centre, Lagos.
In his remarks, the Proprietor/CEO of Caleb Group of Schools and University, Dr. Oladega Adebogun, described the achievement as a reflection of the school’s core values of integrity, perseverance, and innovation. He highlighted the institution’s investment in advanced teaching methods, such as flipped classrooms and AI-powered language labs, as part of its drive to nurture globally competitive students.
Expressing gratitude to her teachers, peers, and family, Uba said the recognition was a shared victory. She noted that preparing in the school’s modern language lab boosted her confidence and performance. “This award belongs to my mentors, my classmates, and my family,” she said. The school further described her success as proof of its commitment to character building and excellence in education.
