Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has approved the release of 130 hectares of land for the construction of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port along the Epe/Mojoda Expressway. The development, confirmed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Tayo Mabeweje, follows the Federal Government’s approval of the project.

The allocation comes shortly after the Gateway International Airport secured certification from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to begin commercial operations, placing Ogun State firmly on Nigeria’s aviation map and boosting its profile as a hub for trade, investment, and tourism.

According to the governor, the inland port project will decongest the Lagos Port System, serve as a cargo consolidation and distribution hub for the South-West, enhance competitiveness in logistics, create jobs, and open new economic opportunities. He stressed that both the dry port and the airport will serve as “critical enablers of industrialisation and regional competitiveness.”

With the Kajola Inland Dry Port already earmarked for the Ogun Central Industrial Cluster and the new Ijebu-Ode facility designated for the eastern corridor, the state government says it is strategically balancing industrial growth across its three senatorial districts. Abiodun described the initiatives as clear proof of his administration’s commitment to modern infrastructure, sustainable development, and inclusive prosperity.
