The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized and destroyed over 300 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs in a series of operations across the state.

State Commander, Umar Yahuza, who disclosed this on Tuesday, said the seizures were made within just one month, targeting shipments of Cannabis sativa and various psychotropic substances.

He noted that several consignments destined for other parts of the country were intercepted, stressing that the agency will not allow Kogi to be used as a transit point for drug traffickers.

Acting on intelligence reports, NDLEA operatives raided Elugu-Egugu forest in Olamaboro Local Government Area, where they arrested two suspects and destroyed more than seven hectares of cannabis farms.

“These achievements are the result of intelligence-driven operations under the current leadership of the agency led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Retired Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa,” Yahuza said.

Beyond enforcement, the command has intensified sensitisation campaigns across schools, motor parks, worship centres, and through partnerships with non-governmental organisations to educate residents on the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.
