Elderly Free State Man, Grandson in Court Over Murder Case

Kroonstad, Free State – An 80-year-old man and his grandson are expected to appear in the Kroonstad Magistrates’ Court today on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.

The elderly suspect was arrested on Tuesday following investigations into the discovery of a man’s body on a farm located between Kroonstad and Welkom on 20 August.

Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, confirmed the arrests and said more suspects may be taken into custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and the motive behind the killing remains under investigation.
