Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has cautioned Nigerians to steer clear of online loan platforms, describing them as “agents of the devil in covenant with the spirit of debt.”

Speaking during Sunday’s service in Abuja, Enenche lamented the growing number of depression and suicide cases linked to the operations of loan apps in the country. According to him, many people are lured by the promise of quick financial relief, only to find themselves trapped in harassment, intimidation, and humiliation that sometimes drive them into depression or even suicide.

He noted that borrowers are often subjected to relentless threats, automated calls, and messages from these platforms after securing loans. In some cases, he said, the operators go as far as posting defamatory content and fake obituaries online to disgrace defaulters.

Enenche stressed that Christians must resist the lure of “easy money,” warning that such loans come with destructive consequences. “These are demonic covenants with debt, and no child of God should associate with them,” he declared.

His remarks follow increasing public criticism of loan app operators in Nigeria, many of whom have faced accusations of breaching privacy rights and using extreme, unethical recovery methods.
