A cleaner in Maiduguri, Borno State, has earned national praise after returning ₦4.8 million that was mistakenly deposited into her bank account.

The woman, identified as Faiza Abdulkadir, was commended by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), which described her action as a rare display of integrity in challenging economic times.

In a statement on Wednesday, the agency noted that Faiza’s honesty stood out in a society where poverty often tempts individuals to compromise.

“In a world where hardship pushes many to cut corners, her decision proves that true wealth lies not in money, but in character,” the NOA said via its official X handle.

The agency added that Faiza’s action is a powerful reminder that honesty continues to shine in Nigeria, and that such exemplary conduct will never go unnoticed.
