The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the inauguration of its National Campaign Council for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the development in a statement released via APC’s official X handle on Thursday.

According to Morka, the event, initially scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, has been put on hold. A new date will be communicated later.

He assured stakeholders of the party’s commitment to putting up a strong performance in the November 8 governorship election, adding: “The party deeply regrets any inconvenience this change may cause and assures all stakeholders of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a successful outing in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.”

The postponement comes as political parties step up preparations for the poll, which is expected to be fiercely contested among the APC, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party.

Anambra has remained under APGA’s control since 2006, with both the APC and PDP struggling to dislodge the party in successive elections. In the 2021 governorship race, APC candidate Senator Andy Uba came third behind APGA’s Charles Soludo and PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo, underscoring the party’s challenges in gaining political foothold in the South-East.

Despite past setbacks, the APC has continued to strengthen its structure in the state through federal presence and alliances with local politicians. The November election is widely seen as a litmus test for the party’s ability to expand its influence in the region.
