Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has joined the Universal Church in celebrating the 70th birthday of Pope Leo XIV.
In a statement posted on his official X handle yesterday, Obi hailed the Pope’s life as a reflection of “faith, humility, and courage,” describing his journey as a living testimony of God’s grace.
He highlighted the symbolic significance of the Pontiff’s birthday falling on the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross — a day that embodies victory, redemption, and steadfast hope. Obi likened the Pope’s life to the meaning of the feast, noting that his witness shows how “faith, perseverance, and fidelity to Christ can transform trials into triumphs.”
The former governor offered prayers for the Holy Father, asking God to bless him with continued strength, wisdom, peace, joy, and good health as he leads the Catholic Church in unity with the bishops.
