Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring the dignity of Abians, declaring that any public official caught engaging in bribery or corruption would be immediately dismissed.

The Governor made this known during an unannounced worship at the Abayi District of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Aba and later at the Headquarters of the Living Word Ministry International, where he attended the 50th wedding anniversary of the General Overseer, Brother Emma Okorie, and his wife.

Governor Otti emphasized that his involvement in politics was never for personal gain but solely to rebuild the pride of Abia people. “The only reason I showed up to contest elections is about the dignity of our people. It is not about money. Anything that will not restore the dignity of the Abia man, count us out,” he declared.

He warned that his government would not tolerate corrupt practices under any guise. “That is why you will never see bribery and corruption in this Government. If you get involved, I’ll fire you. We are intolerant of corruption and nobody can plead for you,” Otti stated firmly.

The Governor highlighted the recent recruitment of 5,394 teachers as a model of transparency, noting that nobody paid bribes or secured employment through favoritism. “Even some of the people who know me very well, I said, go and write your exam. If you pass, we will take you. If you didn’t pass, we will not take you,” he said to loud applause.

Speaking on infrastructure, Governor Otti disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would visit Abia on October 3 to commission completed road projects in Aba, including the reconstructed Port Harcourt and Ohanku Roads.

Clergy leaders commended Otti for his people-focused governance. Pastor Macaulay Nwosu of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church praised the Governor for visible achievements such as road construction, schools, hospitals, and prompt salary payments, noting that church members benefited from the merit-based teacher recruitment. Similarly, Bro. Emma Okorie described Otti’s leadership as an answer to years of prayer for a true reformer in Abia.

Governor Otti congratulated the Okories on their golden jubilee, describing their marriage as an inspiration to the younger generation. The event was attended by top government officials, including members of the Abia State House of Assembly and local government leaders.
