The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) has called on the Dangote Refinery to adopt an open-door supply policy that guarantees fair access to petroleum products at reasonable prices.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, DAPPMAN spokesperson Ikem Ohia said collaboration with the refinery would help ensure steady nationwide fuel availability and end the recurring problem of queues. He clarified that the association is not in conflict with Dangote Refinery but is seeking a partnership that benefits Nigerians.

“Our key interest is to have petroleum products offered consistently at reasonable prices, in a way that there’s no stock-out and Nigerians no longer queue for fuel,” Ohia said. While welcoming Dangote Refinery’s emergence as the dominant supplier, he noted that access and pricing remain the major concerns.

Ohia further highlighted that DAPPMAN has invested in a strong distribution network over the last two decades, with depots strategically located in Calabar, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Lagos. He urged Dangote Refinery to leverage this infrastructure for efficient product delivery nationwide. He also dismissed claims that marketers were seeking subsidies, stressing that the issue is strictly commercial, noting that most refineries globally operate either through wholesale bulk lifting by vessels or ex-gantry retail sales.
