Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has reassured National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state of their safety and welfare throughout their service year. Represented by his deputy, Aminu Gumel, the governor gave the assurance on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse.

He urged the corps members to view their service year as an opportunity to contribute to national development, emphasizing that their efforts would impact local communities while enhancing their personal growth and experience. Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme, stressing that the welfare of corps members remains a top priority.

The governor also commended those who organised the ceremony, pledging that Jigawa would remain a secure and welcoming environment for corps members. He encouraged the new batch to serve with integrity, dedication, and the spirit of nation-building.

Earlier, the Jigawa NYSC Coordinator, Jidda Dawud, revealed that 2,000 corps members had been deployed to the state for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II exercise. He explained that they would undergo a three-week orientation before being posted across the state for their one-year mandatory service. Dawud further advised them to strictly adhere to the scheme’s rules, stressing discipline, hard work, and commitment.

He outlined the activities corps members are expected to undertake, including community development, health awareness campaigns, and educational initiatives. Justice Amina Dahiru, who represented the state Chief Judge, administered the oath of allegiance at the event, which was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, and security chiefs.
