Abia State will join the rest of the world to celebrate the 2025 World Tourism Day on Thursday, October 2, at the JACC Building, Secretariat, Umuahia. The event, which kicks off at 10 a.m., is themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

The Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hon. Matthew Ekwuribe, said the celebration would showcase tourism as a driver of cultural pride, economic growth, and sustainable development.

He explained that the programme will feature lectures, exhibitions, cultural performances, and strategic conversations designed to position Abia as a key player in Nigeria’s tourism industry.

Two key lecture topics will be delivered during the event: “How to Manage the Tourism Industry for Profit in the 21st Century” and “Excellent Customer Service: The Heart of Sustainable Tourism Growth.”

Hon. Ekwuribe extended invitations to hoteliers, travel agencies, creative entrepreneurs, students of hospitality, and other stakeholders, stressing that the event will deepen knowledge, foster partnerships, and strengthen Abia’s journey toward becoming a thriving tourism hub.

“Together, let’s shape a brighter future for Abia through tourism and hospitality,” he said.
