Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison after being convicted on two prostitution-related charges.
Prosecutors had pushed for an 11-year term, but Judge Arun Subramanian handed down a lighter sentence following an emotional hearing in New York. Combs, 55, had already spent over a year in custody and pleaded for leniency, telling the court he was “truly sorry” and begged for “mercy.”
While acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering, the hip-hop star was found guilty of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.
His former partner, singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, submitted a letter detailing years of alleged abuse, including violent incidents and coercion into “freak offs.” Another woman gave similar testimony.
Prosecutors argued Combs showed little accountability, accusing him of planning public appearances in anticipation of a light sentence. His lawyers, however, described him as remorseful and a community inspiration.
Combs’s six children appealed to the judge for compassion, calling him a changed man. Despite their pleas, the court emphasized the severity of his actions before delivering the prison term.
