Abia Government Refutes N38bn Monthly Allocation Claim, Publishes Official FAAC Records

The Abia State Government has released verified records from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to debunk recent claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been releasing N38 billion monthly to the state. The data, accessible via oagf.gov.ng/publications/faac-report, provides a detailed breakdown of Abia’s statutory earnings from the Federation Allocation for the first half of 2025.

According to the figures, Abia received a total of N18 billion in January (N11.2 billion FAAC and N6.8 billion JAAC); N22 billion in February (N13.7 billion FAAC and N8.3 billion JAAC); N21.1 billion in March (N13.4 billion FAAC and N7.7 billion JAAC); N20.3 billion in April (N13 billion FAAC and N7.3 billion JAAC); N21.5 billion in May (N13.9 billion FAAC and N7.6 billion JAAC); and N21.7 billion in June (N13.8 billion FAAC and N7.9 billion JAAC).

The government explained that total revenue allocations to the federal, state, and local governments are derived from multiple sources, including statutory allocations, 13% derivation, exchange gain allocations, ecological funds, electronic money transfer levies, and VAT allocations. It emphasized that the process follows a transparent formula and that no “Father Christmas” exists in the federation to arbitrarily distribute funds.

Reacting to comments made by a former Commissioner for Finance and a governorship aspirant, the state government criticized attempts to distort the facts and mislead the public. It described claims of a N38 billion monthly release as false and politically motivated, urging critics to verify official figures rather than peddle misinformation. The government added that Abians would ultimately hold accountable those responsible for the state’s past mismanagement when the time comes.
