The Abia State Government has approved and awarded contracts for the construction of five key roads across various parts of the state as part of its ongoing infrastructure development agenda.

According to the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Chief Prince Okey Kanu, two of the projects — the 25km Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road and the 13.1km Ariam–Usaka Ring Road in Ikwuano Local Government Area — will be officially flagged off on Friday, October 24.

Other roads under construction include the 9.35km Ihechiowa–Arochukwu Ring Road, the 4.9km Isieketa–Mba Itungwa–Mgbedeala Road in Isiala Ngwa South, and the 3.72km Ogidi–Umuala Eziama Ntigha Road in Isiala Ngwa North.

Kanu noted that these projects form a crucial part of the administration’s infrastructure renewal drive aimed at opening up rural areas, improving accessibility, and stimulating economic growth across the state.
