The Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria has described its forthcoming Annual Directors’ Conference as a crucial platform for promoting nation-building and strengthening good governance across the country. The 2025 edition of the conference, themed “Leading Through Change: Building Sustainable and Inclusive Enterprises,” is scheduled to take place later this month in Abuja.

Speaking at a press briefing, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIoD Nigeria, Adetunji Oyebanji, said the event remains the Institute’s flagship gathering for business leaders, policymakers, regulators, and thought leaders. He described the conference as a cornerstone of CIoD’s advocacy for ethical leadership and sustainable corporate practices. “This period of change is not merely a threat; it is an opportunity to forge a new path, redefine our purpose, and build institutions that are not only resilient but more impactful,” Oyebanji stated.

Chairman of the National Organising Committee, Bimbo Ashiru, noted that the 2025 edition will underscore the role of leaders in navigating change and driving innovation. “This year, we are saying clearly that leaders must survive and lead through change while building enterprises that are sustainable, inclusive, and innovative. That is our contribution as directors to the task of nation-building,” he said.

The conference is expected to attract top public and private sector figures, including President Bola Tinubu, Conference Chairman Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, and Keynote Speaker Mr. Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Group. Other dignitaries include Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack; and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu.

The Institute expressed appreciation to its headline sponsor, FirstBank of Nigeria Ltd, alongside other partners and media organisations, for their ongoing commitment to advancing good governance. As Nigeria’s premier professional body for directors and business leaders, the CIoD reaffirmed its mission to promote sound corporate governance, ethical leadership, and sustainable enterprise practices across all sectors of the economy.
