All eyes are set on Clifford University, Owerrinta, Abia State, this Sunday, October 19, 2025, as Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Davido makes a grand return — not for a concert, but to grace the institution’s 6th Convocation Ceremony as the keynote speaker.
The multiple award-winning artist and philanthropist will deliver an inspiring commencement address to graduating students, encouraging them as they step into a new chapter of their lives. In addition to his address, Davido will officially commission the Dr. Veronica Imade Adeleke Female Hostel Complex, a touching project named after his late mother, whose legacy of love and education continues to inspire many.
Scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., the ceremony promises a perfect mix of class, celebration, and emotion. Students, dignitaries, and fans are expected to throng the campus to witness the moment Davido steps into academia, using his story of perseverance and success to inspire the next generation.
Supported by his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, a renowned businessman and education advocate who recently funded scholarships for 500 students, the commissioning of the hostel further strengthens the Adeleke family’s commitment to empowering young people through education.
Speaking ahead of the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Chimezie Omeonu described Davido’s participation as “a defining moment” for the university, adding that the institution is celebrating not only its graduates but also “excellence, purpose, and impact — values Davido represents.”
With expectations high, the 6th Convocation Ceremony is poised to be Clifford University’s most memorable yet — where music meets academia, and one of Africa’s biggest stars delivers a message that will echo far beyond the stage.
