A new wave of protests hit Abuja today as another group took to the streets to express strong opposition to the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The protesters, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, urged the Federal Government not to succumb to what they described as “pressure from agitators seeking to destabilize the nation.”

The demonstration, which took place at key locations in the Federal Capital Territory, was reportedly peaceful, with security operatives stationed at strategic points to maintain order and prevent clashes with pro-Kanu supporters.

Leaders of the protesting group emphasized that their action was not politically motivated but driven by a desire to protect Nigeria’s unity and national security. They claimed that releasing Kanu could embolden separatist movements and heighten tensions across the South-East region.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has yet to issue any official response regarding today’s protest, even as public discourse around Kanu’s detention continues to polarize opinions nationwide.
