The Obidient Movement, a citizens-driven platform promoting transparency and the leadership ideals of Peter Obi, has denied reports that it endorsed Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for a second term.

In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Movement described the claim as “false, mischievous, and politically motivated,” warning that it was a ploy to exploit the Movement’s credibility for partisan interests.

According to Dr. Tanko, the group has not given its endorsement to Governor Soludo or any other candidate outside its established position. He reaffirmed the Movement’s support for Mr. George Moghalu, who was earlier endorsed by Peter Obi as its preferred candidate in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.

“The Obidient Movement operates on truth and transparency, not propaganda. Any report suggesting otherwise should be disregarded,” Dr. Tanko stated.

Reiterating its independence, the Movement clarified that it is not an arm of any political party but a national citizens’ platform committed to promoting integrity, accountability, and service-oriented leadership.

“We supported Peter Obi in 2023 because he represented competence and character — not because of a political party. Our principles remain unchanged,” the statement read.

The group also condemned what it described as the “unauthorised and unethical use” of the Obidient name by individuals or groups seeking personal or political advantage.

“The Obidient identity is not for sale, not for rent, and not available for political laundering,” the Movement declared, warning those spreading falsehoods that their actions would soon be exposed.

The statement reaffirmed the Movement’s mission to nurture ethical leaders and ensure that all future political decisions, including those relating to the 2027 elections, would be reached collectively and announced only through verified channels.

It also urged the media, political actors, and the public to verify information before dissemination, cautioning against becoming tools of disinformation.

“The Obidient Movement stands for truth, justice, and a better Nigeria. No amount of falsehood will derail our mission,” the statement concluded.

The Obidient Movement emerged after the 2023 presidential campaign of Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State.
