Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has restated his administration’s dedication to practical, result-oriented governance and the diversification of the state’s economy through large-scale agricultural initiatives.
The Governor made this known on Friday during an inspection visit to the state-owned Udomi Farm in Edo Central Senatorial District, accompanied by top government officials. His Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, disclosed the development in a statement.
Speaking at the site, Governor Okpebholo described the farm as a concrete example of his administration’s resolve to turn policy commitments into visible results.
“This farm represents practical governance in action,” he said. “We don’t just make promises; we deliver results the people can see.”
The Governor commended the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for its efforts, reaffirming that his administration remains focused on promoting food security, creating jobs, and driving economic diversification through agribusiness.
He emphasized that projects like the Udomi Farm mark a shift from mere rhetoric to measurable achievements, reflecting his government’s commitment to empowering local farmers and supporting agro-industrial growth across Edo State.
Conducting the Governor and his team around the farm, the Director of Agricultural Services in the Ministry, Ogunbo David, revealed that maize cultivation on the 400-hectare farm had reached the harvest stage, yielding between six and seven tons per hectare. He added that the Prime Flour Mill in Ewu serves as the major off-taker.
Earlier in the day, Governor Okpebholo also inspected the ongoing construction of the Benin Flyover at Ramat Park, Benin City, to assess the progress of work before proceeding to the Udomi Farm.
